HPV Vaccination

The most powerful tool for eliminating cervical cancer — a safe, highly effective vaccine recommended for girls, women and boys aged 9–45.

Cancer Prevention

Vaccinate Today, Prevent Cancer Tomorrow

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection and the cause of virtually all cervical cancers, most anal and many oral cancers. The HPV vaccine is one of the most successful cancer-prevention tools ever developed — reducing cervical cancer rates by up to 90% in vaccinated populations.

Dr. Abha strongly advocates HPV vaccination as part of a holistic preventive healthcare strategy for all eligible girls, women, and boys.

🛡️

Gardasil 9 (9-valent)

Protects against HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58 — preventing 90% of cervical cancers, most genital warts, and cancers of vulva, vagina and anus. The most comprehensive protection available.

🔵

Gardasil 4 (4-valent)

Covers HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18 — protecting against the most common high-risk strains causing 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts.

🩺

Cervarix (2-valent)

Targets HPV 16 and 18, responsible for the majority of cervical cancer cases. Provides robust cross-protection against some other high-risk HPV strains and is particularly effective in younger girls.

Dosing Schedule

Vaccination Schedule

👧

Ages 9–14 (Most Effective)

Two-dose schedule: Dose 1, then Dose 2 at 6–12 months. Best given before first sexual exposure. This age group generates the strongest antibody response and provides optimal long-term protection.

2 doses6 months apart
👩

Ages 15–45

Three-dose schedule: Dose 1, Dose 2 at 1–2 months, Dose 3 at 6 months. Vaccination is still beneficial even if HPV exposure has occurred — you may not be infected with all vaccine-covered strains.

3 doses0 / 1–2 / 6 months

Who Should Be Vaccinated?

Girls aged 9–14 (primary target — most effective)
Women up to age 45 (still highly beneficial)
Boys aged 9–26 (prevents HPV spread & oropharyngeal cancer)
HIV-positive individuals (3-dose schedule regardless of age)
Women who have had an abnormal Pap smear (protects against other strains)
Women who have completed HPV treatment (to prevent re-infection)

Note: The vaccine prevents new HPV infections — it does not treat existing ones. It is not recommended during pregnancy, but can be given while breastfeeding.
